A Shepparton mum is still coming to terms with the surprise that a $100,000 prize was tucked away in her handbag for days without her realising.

The top prize winning $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was sold at newsXpress Riverside News Lotto & Gifts, Shop 16B, Riverside Plaza, 8025 Goulburn Valley Highway, Kialla.

Confirming her win with us this morning, the excited woman explained she’d had a sleepless night after scratching the ticket.

“I didn’t expect it!” she exclaimed.

“It was such a surprise.

“I had the ticket in my bag for three days before I scratched it. I’d totally forgotten about it.

“Then I scratched it and I was so shocked!

“I didn’t think it was real. I checked it over and over again just to be sure.

“I couldn’t believe it. I was in shock. I couldn’t sleep that night.”

With $100,000 about to hit her bank account, the young mum said the instant windfall would go a long way to helping her family.

“It will set us up for future,” she explained.

“I’m going to put it towards a house.

“It’s very exciting!”

newsXpress Riverside News Lotto & Gifts owner Chris Georgopoulos said it was the biggest top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket his outlet had sold.

“She was so excited when she came in and told us the news,” he recalled.

“And we were so happy for her. It’s so nice to see this prize go to a local.

“Congratulations to her!”
