A local Aldinga Beach man is planning on swapping yard work for a celebratory drink over the weekend after winning a Keno Spot 8 prize of $50,000 in draw 2343259 on Friday 2 March, 2018.

The happy winner explained he was pottering in the garden and running errands when he decided to get an entry from Aldinga Beach Newsagency, Shop 2, Aldinga Central Shopping Centre, Corner Aldinga Beach Road and Pridham Boulevard, Aldinga Beach.

“I’ve got a set of Spot 8 numbers that I play regularly and it’s my day off work today so I was tidying up in the garden and had to run some errands and thought I’d put a Keno on while I was out,” he explained.

“I went home and checked the draw on my phone and yeah when I saw it I couldn’t believe it! I had to read it a few times to be sure!

“I rang the missus straight away and told her to knock off work now! We went straight to the pub to celebrate with a bourbon.”

The happy man revealed his winning entry drew on numbers from a previous win.

“I got a ticket about six months ago that I won about $50 or $60 on straight away and I did like the numbers because they were familiar.

“So I just kept them as is and have been playing them for six months now.”

When asked how he planned to spend his $50,000 windfall, the Aldinga Beach man confessed it would be put to good use immediately.

“Upgrade the cars, maybe get the gutters done and put the rest on the mortgage – won’t be anything too flash,” he said.

Aldinga Beach Newsagency manager, Kayla Dunn, said she was thrilled that one of their regular customers had won a Keno Spot 8 prize.

“We’ve sold a few big Keno prizes like $10,000 but the Keno Spot 8 prize is our biggest one yet!” she said.

“We also sold a $200 winning entry and a $1,500 winning entry today too so it has been great for our customers.

“We are so happy a local and a regular customer has won and we wish them all the best!”

Last financial year, there were 27 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who landed more than $5.98 million.  Spot 10 was won twice during this time, remarkably both on the same day, 1 May 2017.
