The search for Dubbo’s newest millionaire is off, with a local man this morning coming forward to claim his life-changing prize.

The Orana region resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3969, drawn Wednesday 29 April 2020, and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.

Confirming his win with us this morning, the sleepy but over-the-moon winner said he only checked his ticket last night, more than 24 hours after the draw.

“Thank you very much,” he laughed.

“Wow! I checked my ticket on the app at around 10 o’clock last night and it told me I’d won one million dollars.

“Of course I didn’t really believe it, so I went down to the newsagency first thing this morning to double check.

“I didn’t sleep a wink last night, I’ve been up all night thinking about what I’d do with it if it was true!

“I feel numb. I’m shaking. I’ve spilt my coffee all over the place.

“I can’t get my head around it! It’s absolutely unbelievable.”

Having been wide awake all night, the Dubbo man explained he’d already spent half of his life-changing prize in his head.

“It’s really come at the best time. I lost my job recently because things had really slowed down due to the coronavirus pandemic,” he explained.

“I’m definitely going to buy myself a new car. My old car isn’t even worth fixing.

“I’ll also be able to buy myself a home! It’s honestly unbelievable.”

The life-changing ticket was purchased at TSG Dubbo, 213 Macquarie Street, Dubbo.

TSG Dubbo owners Mark Liersch and Michele Collins said they were thrilled their local and regular customer had checked his ticket.

“We’re so glad our winner has come forward,” they said.

“We wish him all the very best with his prize and hope that it will be a fruitful and life-changing experience.

“It’s fantastic to be able to celebrate this great news for our outlet and the Dubbo community

“This is the first division one winning entry we’ve sold at our new outlet, so we are thrilled!”
