A Belmont retiree has admitted she had no idea a division one winning lottery ticket worth $1 million had been sitting on her kitchen bench for almost a week.

The Newcastle resident held one of the three division one winning entries across Australia in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4097, drawn Wednesday 21 July 2021.

Confirming her win with us this morning, the woman explained she’d only just thought to check her entry.

“Oh my god,” she said eventually.

“I had absolutely no idea.

“I feel terrific. Thank you.

“That’s incredible. My husband will be so happy to hear this!

“I’ve been playing for such a long time. I can’t believe it. I am stunned.”

When asked how she’d enjoy her million-dollar prize, the winning woman explained she’d need to take some time to work it out.

“Gosh,” she said.

“I have no idea.

“I will put it away in the bank for now and have a good think about it.

“I am sure it will be enjoyed by many!”

The life-changing entry was purchased at Belmont City Newsagency, Shop 21, Belmont City Centre, 41 Macquarie Street, Belmont.

Belmont City Newsagency owners Lisa and Stewart Sinclair said they were so excited one of their customers had become a millionaire.

“We have only been in business for several weeks at Belmont City Newsagency, and we have been dreaming of being a division one winning shop since we opened the store,” they explained.

“We couldn't be happier and more excited for our valued customer.

“Congratulations to them!”
