A Muswellbrook woman has confessed she plans to take the rest of the day off work to celebrate with her husband after scoring a $1 million division one prize in last night’s Wednesday Lotto draw.

The Upper Hunter player held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4011, drawn Wednesday 23 September 2020, and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.

When we broke the news to the winner this morning, she initially didn’t believe the life-changing news.

“Oh my god! Are you serious! I’ve won a million dollars? Are you serious? This isn’t a prank call, is it?” she exclaimed.

“Everything has always gone wrong for us. You have no idea how much this means. It means our luck is finally turning around.

“It has come at a really good time.

“I play every week, but this week I decided to buy an extra ticket. I thought the extra ticket might be the one that changed my luck. And it was!

“I can’t wait to call my husband and tell him. I hope he believes me. I’ll have to show him the ticket and say, ‘we’ve won a million bucks!’.

“Whenever I check my ticket and take home a smaller prize I always say to the team behind the counter ‘oh well, looks like I have to go to work today’.

“But today I don’t! I’ll keep working, but I’ll take today off so I can celebrate with my husband.”

When asked how it felt to become an overnight millionaire, the stoked winner couldn’t help but laugh.

“I feel a million bucks,” she joked.

“I’ll be able to pay off the house. It will mean everything to us to be able to do that after a tough few years.

“Then we’ll go on holiday. Nowhere too exciting, just somewhere by the beach locally where we can relax.”

The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning entry at Southside Newsagency, Shop 2, 27-29 Maitland Road, Muswellbrook.
