A hard-working Maitland farmer who has played the same lottery numbers for decades has happily embraced his new millionaire status after winning division one in a Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw.

The Hunter Valley resident held one of the three division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4160, drawn Monday 28 February 2022. Each entry took home $1 million.

This morning the gleeful man finally discovered the life-changing news after his wife initially declined our winning call.

“Oh my god! You’re joking! I can’t believe it,” the winning man yelled.

“That’s unbelievable! I’ve been playing the same lottery numbers since day one, and I’ve never expected to win big.

“I can’t remember why I chose those lottery numbers initially, but they’ve paid off this week! This is amazing.

“My wife is next to me on loudspeaker, and she is mind-blown.

"I was just out moving some fences on the farm this morning, and here I am discovering I’ve won a million dollars. Wow, just wow.

“We can’t wait to tell our children; they will be absolutely stoked. This will change everything and make our life so much easier. We can help our family even further.

“We’ve been working hard all these years looking after our farm, so this will take some pressure off. Thank you!”

His marked 14-game Quickpick was purchased at Telarah Newsagency, 49 Telarah Street, Telarah.

Telarah Newsagency owner Bruce Toghill said he was over the moon to have sold a division one winning entry to a local customer.

“Oh, you have no idea! We just couldn’t believe it when we discovered that we sold a division one winning entry on Monday night. We’re just as happy as the winner is!” he said.

“It’s been a long time coming, and we’re just so happy that it’s gone to a local customer who has supported us all the way. We hope the winning streak continues for years to come.

“Congratulations to our winner, and we wish them all the best with their prize.”
