A Wynnum man had his morning at work interrupted with the best phone call imaginable - news he’s started Tuesday as a millionaire.

The south-east Queenslander held the only division one winning entry in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4122, drawn Monday 18 October 2021 and walks away with $1 million.

When we reached out to the man this morning, he was kicking off his workday with no idea he was holding a division one winning entry.

“Oh gosh. Alright,” he managed eventually.

“I’ve got the paper right in front of me now and can see the winning numbers.

“Wow. That’s incredible.

“I’m in shock. I think it’s going to take a while to sink in.

“That’s amazing. I can’t wait to tell my wife!”

With $1 million about to hit his bank account, he said it was time to start thinking about slowing down.

“Well, I think we’d pay off the mortgage and then we have no debt or bills to worry about,” he said.

“And then we’ll see what happens after that.

“I might see about retiring a little earlier too and we can help the kids out.

“It will be great!”

It’s the fifth division one win to land in Brisbane’s eastern suburbs so far this year, with these wins collectively worth more than $5.8 million.

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his life-changing 50-game QuickPick from Nextra Wynnum Plaza, Shop 20, Wynnum Plaza, 2021 Wynnum Road, Wynnum West.

Nextra Wynnum Plaza manager Lorry Byron said she was thrilled to hear one of their local customers had walked away with the life-changing prize.

“Oh my goodness, it is so exciting,” she said.

“We get a huge buzz out of knowing we’ve sold a division one winning entry to one of our regulars.

“We are so happy for them. Congratulations!”
