Cairns mum in her 20s said a bad year has now turned into an excellent one after discovering she became a millionaire from winning division one in last night’s Wednesday Gold Lotto draw.

The North Queensland entry was the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3921, on Wednesday 13 November 2019, and takes home a division one prize of $1,000,000.

Speaking with us this morning, the woman explained she never imagined she would be a millionaire.

“Thank you so much,” she laughed.

“I found out last night. I was watching some TV and just thought I’d check my ticket and that’s when I saw I’d won division one!

“I screamed so loud when I found out. I couldn’t believe it!

“I checked the ticket every half an hour. I only got about four hours sleep last night because I kept waking up my husband to check the ticket.

“Things like this don’t happen to people like me.

“How could I be a millionaire?

“This is just insane!”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her million-dollar windfall, the young woman said it would help set her family up for the future.

“We are a young family so it will help us get ahead,” she explained.

“We will buy our first home and get a new car.

“We’ve been through a bit of a rough time so this will help so much.”

The million-dollar winning Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto ticket was purchased at Market Place News, Shop 2, Centenary Park Place, 96 McLaughlin Road, Bentley Park.

Market Place News owner Chris Tyrie said he was thrilled to have made one of his local customers an overnight millionaire.

“It is amazing news,” he said.

“We are very excited.

“It’s our second division one winning entry in the last 18 months. We feel like we are on a roll, so we are waiting to sell that next division one winning entry.

“The winner came in today and it was great to be able to share the celebrations with her.

“She is a local and such a deserving winner. We are so happy for her and wish her all the best.”
