A young Gladstone woman is this morning struggling to concentrate at work, happily distracted by the news she won $800,000 in last night’s Wednesday Gold Lotto draw.

The regional Queensland player held one of the five division one winning entries across Australia in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3977, drawn Wednesday 27 May 2020. They each take home a division one prize of $800,000.

This morning we contacted the woman to break the news, who had just settled in for a day of work.

“Thank you,” she laughed hysterically.

“Sorry! I’m just a bit shocked.

“I checked my ticket early this morning and I just kept thinking ‘that can’t be right, that can’t be right’.

“But I suppose it is! I just can’t comprehend this.

“I’m at work. It’s just so exciting. I don’t know how I’m going to get through the day.

“It was a marked entry and my husband and I have been playing those numbers for about three years, there all birthdays and anniversaries.

“My hands are shaking. I need to pull myself together!”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her windfall, the young woman said it would set her and her husband up for life.

“We will certainly be buying ourselves a house and a car,” she said.

“It’s probably come at the best time in our life. We can really set ourselves up for our futures and probably not ever have to worry about the little financial stresses in life.

“It’s just incredible!”

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning entry at Kirkwood Newsagency, Shop 5, 550 Kirkwood Road, Gladstone.

Kirkwood Newsagency owner Peggy Wood said it was the first division one winning entry the outlet had sold.

“We’re so happy that we’ve sold our very first division one winning entry,” she said.

“It’s very exciting news for us and the local community.

“Congratulations to our winner, it’s fantastic to see this prize go to a local.

“We hope this is the first of many big wins for our customers!”
