A newlywed man from Ringwood is looking forward to planning for his young family’s future after taking home over $7 million from last night’s Oz Lotto draw.

The man held one of two division one winning entries nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1265, drawn Tuesday 15 May – one each from Victoria and Western Australia. Each takes home a division one prize of $7.5 million.

As well as winning the coveted division one prize of $7.5 million, the astounded winner also won division five, bolstering his total prize to $7,500,050.05.

When speaking with a Tatts official this morning to confirm the news, the overjoyed winner revealed he had discovered his win himself in the early hours of this morning.

“I’ve been waiting to call you guys! You’ve caught me off guard!” the man exclaimed.

“I got up to go to work this morning and I checked the numbers on my email and basically I’ve just been sitting here since 4:30am this morning.

“We’ve been waiting until 8:30am to call you but when I saw a call from a private number I thought ‘this is a phone call I want to take’.

“I don’t know what’s happening right now. It’s a heck of a lot of money.

“All of a sudden Oz Lotto has changed our lives. We’ve got a family so it’s just like ‘oh my god’.”

When asked how the he planned to spend his Oz Lotto multi-million-dollar windfall, the happy man revealed the news still hadn’t yet sunk in.

“I don’t actually don’t know! We’ve just gone crazy celebrating. We just got married a few weeks ago so it’s great timing.

“It’s just unbelievable! It’s perfect timing -we can just relax.

“Now is the time to chat to the bank and see what are we going to do and how is this going to work!”

The thrilled winner also confessed he wasn’t just excited for his own family, but he was over-the-moon that someone else in Australia had also won division one in last night’s Oz Lotto draw.

“I saw that there was another winner and some other family has just woken up to the same news we have and I am so excited for them,” he explained.

“Two families’ lives have been changed completely in one morning.

“I’ve always said I’d like to win the lottery but I’ve always said I would like to share it.

“It’s just great. It’s changed our lives no end so I hope the other person who has the other half is as super excited as I am.”

The regular player revealed that his winning entry consisted of a combination of marked numbers topped up with QuickPick numbers.

“We play often and always play the same numbers. We marked the first couple of lines with birthdays and things like that, and the rest we topped up with a QuickPick.”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his 18-game marked entry from Eastland Newsagency, 1015 Eastland Shopping Centre, 171 Margondah Highway, Ringwood.

Ray Tanti, owner of Eastland Newsagency, said he was thrilled to have sold another division one winning entry.

“This is our third division one winning entry we have sold in 18 months,” he exclaimed.

“The last two were Saturday Lotto winners, so this is our first Oz Lotto winner and definitely the largest won by a customer of our store.

“It’s given everyone in the store a bit of a buzz and we are just so pleased it has gone to a local to the area and a regular player.”

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1261 on Tuesday 15 May 2018 were 41, 23, 12, 13, 6, 40 and 29. The supplementary numbers were 14 and 39.

There was were two division one winning entries nationally, one each from Victoria and Western Australia.

Last financial year, 18 Oz Lotto winning entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions won more than $182 million.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 373 so far this financial year, including 140 won by Tatts customers.
