An Ourimbah disability worker cried tears of joy today when she answered the phone to news she won the 1st Prize worth $250,000 in the latest Play For Purpose raffle.

The Central Coast resident’s prize includes a premium Range Rover Evoque, $125,000 in cashable gold and $25,000 in vouchers from some of Australia's leading retailers.

With Play For Purpose, each ticket gives players the chance to win a range of prizes, all while supporting a good Australian cause of their choice.

This morning, an official from Play For Purpose reached out to the 1st Prize winner, who was busy doing her household chores and oblivious to her good fortune.

"No way!" she questioned.

"Oh my god! Oh my god! I am over the moon!

"I don't even know how to feel. Oh my god! I am shaking. I can't stop shaking, I need to sit down.

"I feel very shocked! I can't believe it! I have won!

"As soon as I get off the phone to you, I am going to cry. I can feel the tears coming. There are going to be a lot of happy tears.

"Then I am going to call my family and scream 'I won Play For Purpose! Woo-hoo!'."

The Central Coast resident bought her winning Play For Purpose ticket in support of Guide Dogs Queensland.

"I started buying Play For Purpose tickets this year. One of my friends told me about it, and I just thought it was awesome that you could win a prize and support a charity of your choice," she explained.

"I am a long time supporter of Guide Dogs Queensland, and I will continue to support them – I really love them!

"I actually work in the disability services, so I think Guide Dogs is amazing!

"What they can do and give is just incredible, so to know that they're going to receive a bonus $5,000 payment too is just fabulous."

When asked how she planned to enjoy her prize, the elated woman said she needed time to let the news sink in, but she did have one idea.

"I still can't believe it! I think I need to sit down and have a good think about what I am going to do," she explained.

"I will probably go and do some travelling around Australia!

"What an amazing win right before Christmas too. It's going to make this Christmas even better!"

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her entry at playforpurpose.com.au.

Guide Dogs Queensland General Manager Jock Beveridge said he was absolutely thrilled one of their supporters had won the major prize in the latest Play For Purpose raffle.

“With the help of supporters like our latest winner, we’ve raised over $26,000 through Play For Purpose. These funds are vital in helping people with vision loss to regain their freedom and independence. In fact,$26,000 is enough funding to get a future guide dog through the first full year of its life and its training,” he said.

“Although our iconic guide dogs are the face of our organisation, we also help people with a range of mobility and lifestyle services to support them in reaching their goals.”

Other major prize winners from the latest Play For Purpose raffle were from players from Bowen, Dirranbandi, Emerald and Bradbury who supported Rural Aid, Children's Hospital Foundation, and Love Your Sister.

The next Play For Purpose raffle is open at playforpurpose.com.au.
