Play For Purpose is a not-for-profit raffle helping hundreds of great Australian causes supercharge their fundraising. As part of its support of community organisations, The Lott provides resources and financial support to every Play For Purpose raffle.

Christmas has come early for a Chinchilla woman who celebrated her last working day of the year with an unexpected bonus – winning the $250,000 First Prize Pack in the latest Play For Purpose raffle.

The Western Downs resident’s First Prize Pack includes a new Range Rover Evoque valued at $111,551 and $138,449 in cashable gold bullion.

Each Play For Purpose ticket gives players the chance to win hundreds of prizes, all while supporting an Australian charitable cause of their choice.

Straight after the draw, we reached out to the First Prize Pack winner, who was busy at work and completely oblivious to her good fortune.

“Wow! Oh goodness me,” she gasped when her First Prize Pack was confirmed.

“Are you sure? Did I really win?

“It’s a lovely present to receive right before Christmas!

“It’s my last day at work for the year before I enjoy my Christmas break. What a surprise!

“I’ve been supporting Rural Aid and similar charities in Chinchilla, since 2019 - they’re all very worthy causes!

“In 2019, we were severely impacted by the drought in our area, and our land was dry, dry, dry, and the local dam was empty.

“We used to have a lot of cattle on the land, and it was so devastating to see. We’ve retrieved most of it now, but it really does leave a mark.

“Thankfully, we have charities such as Rural Aid which make it possible for people to give back to those impacted – registered farmers and individual families.

“It’s not always about getting something in return that matters – it’s all about giving to others!

“A lot of people need help, and it’s easy to forget.”

When asked how she felt about her thrilling prize, the Queenslander said it couldn’t have come at a better time.

“Oh dear! It’s incredible,” she said.

“We’ve always had this plan in mind to sell our two older cars when I retired, but now with this new car coming our way, we don’t have to!

“Funnily enough, this isn’t the first time I’ve won a car. The last one was over a decade ago, so we’re really grateful!

“I think the winning news will hit me in a little while. It’s hard to process!

“Thank you so much.”

The generous woman purchased her Play For Purpose entry at www.playforpurpose.com.au in support of Rural Aid.

John Walters, CEO said support for Rural Aid has never been more important to make a real difference to the lives of faming families throughout Australia.

“We are so thankful to all our Play For Purpose raffle supporters for their kindness and generosity,” he said.

“Funds raised through the raffle help Aussie farmers with a broad range of services, from financial assistance and counselling to hay deliveries and water tank refills.”
