From a new car to future holidays, two long-term Cambridge Park mates are happily making plans for the $880,000 prize they scored in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

The pair held one of the seven division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4111, drawn Saturday 12 December 2020. Each division one winning entry takes home $883,981.39.

“It makes a good Christmas present, eh?” one of the winning friends told us this morning.

“We’ve been playing for about 40 years. We started off working together and became mates. We’ve been playing Lotto together ever since.

“My wife checked the ticket on Saturday night. She came in and woke me up and told me we’d won. I thought she was having me on!

“We just can’t believe it. We were only saying the other day we thought we were due for a big win.

“This time, my mate bought the ticket from a different outlet than usual. Maybe that made the difference.”

With a division one prize about to land in their bank accounts, the two mates are now busy deciding how they’ll enjoy their share.

“The only thing I’ve thought about is buying a new car,” one friend shared.

“I’m not going to get carried away until I see it in the bank account. Then we can plan other things, like helping family, holidays and whatever else.”

The winners, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning entry at Cambridge Park Newsagency, 122 Oxford Street, Cambridge Park.

Cambridge Park Newsagency owner Amy Ling said she wished the friends all the very best with their prize.

“A win like this gives all of our customers hope that one day it could be them,” she said.

“This is the first division one win we’ve had since taking ownership. This will be a milestone for our store for many years to come.”
