A new diamond ring for his wife is on top of the shopping list for a Kilmore man who won a lustrous $600,000 in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.

The regional Victorian resident held one of the nine division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4273 on Saturday 2 July 2022 and took home a total prize of $606,313.65.

Confirming his prize first thing this morning, the retiree revealed he initially thought phone calls to alert him of his good fortune were a scam.

“It’s astonishing! I nearly fell off my couch when I found out,” he laughed.

“Earlier this week, I noticed I had some missed calls. I thought it was a scam and decided to not ring back.

“A few days had passed, and I received a text message altering me to check my TattsLotto tickets. I thought it was strange, but I did it anyway.

“That’s when I discovered I’d won division one – I couldn’t believe my eyes!

“I went down to the local newsagency and the owner was ready with a bottle of champagne. It’s all so surreal!

“I’ve been playing for many decades, and I’ve had many lottery prizes over the years but definitely not division one!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his life-enhancing bounty, the gleeful man shared a couple of ideas.

“One of the things I’d like to do with the prize is replace a diamond ring that my wife lost a couple of years ago. It would be wonderful to surprise her with the ring,” he explained.

“We have a lot of farm stock and will look at purchasing some more transportation vehicles. We lost one during the bush fires as well, so this will come in handy.”

His winning marked System 8 entry was purchased at Kilmore Authorised Newsagency, 74A Sydney Street, Kilmore.

Kilmore Authorised Newsagency team member Mary Nagothu said she was beyond thrilled to see a local take home a division one prize.

“It’s wonderful news for the Kilmore community – it’s already the talk of the town!” she said.

“We’ve had some tough times lately, and it’s fantastic to have some good news to talk about.

“This is our fourth division one winner from the last three years and our second major lottery winner within ten months. We hope this is the start of many more!

“Congratulations to the division one winner and we wish him all the best with his exciting prize.”
