When a Mackay woman initially checked her Saturday Gold Lotto ticket, she thought she’d won $1,300 but soon discovered it was actually a $1.3 million win.

The North Queensland resident held one of the four division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4259 on Saturday 14 May 2022. Each division one winning entry scored $1,300,790.00.

This morning, we reached out to the winning woman, who was patiently waiting by the phone to have her exciting news confirmed.

“I checked my ticket online yesterday,” the winning woman explained.

“Initially, I thought I’d won $1,300, and I was delighted.

“But then I kept looking at the ticket, and I saw all the numbers lit up in a line. I realised I’d won $1.3 million, not $1,300!

“I went all jittery. It was such an unbelievable moment!

“Hubby was down at the shops getting some lunch, and he didn’t take his phone, so I had to wait for him to come back to break the news. It felt like he was gone forever!

“When he finally got back, I broke the news to him, and he started shaking so much. We were so happy!

“We had a bottle of champagne in the fridge that we hadn’t opened yet, so we decided to pop it open to celebrate the win.

“It’s come at the best time for us and will make a tremendous difference to our lives.

“We want to use the prize to help our growing family and save the rest for our future retirements.

“Now that I know this is real, I can calm down. I might even make us some bacon and eggs to continue the celebration!”

The overjoyed woman purchased her 18-game QuickPick entry at News Central, Shop 100T7 Northern Beaches Central, Cnr Mackay Bucasia Rd & Eimeo Bypass, Rural View.

News Central co-owner Simon Pastega said the outlet was celebrating selling another major prize win to one of their customers.

“Isn’t it great news! Woo-hoo,” he laughed.

“We’re so excited! We’ve sold quite a few big wins in the past.

“We’ve already had two division one wins in just three weeks. So, we want to make it a hat trick and have a third division one win soon.

“Last year, we also sold a $50 million winning ticket in Powerball, so we feel fortunate.

“We still have the bottle of champagne you gave us from the last big win we had, so we will celebrate with that later.

“It’s fantastic news for the entire Mackay community. It’ll undoubtedly create a buzz around town!

“All our customers are so happy for us and hoping they’re next to win big. We hope that’s the case, too!”
