A generous Moira Shire centenarian is planning to surprise his family this weekend with news he’s won $600,000 in TattsLotto… and intends to give it all to them.

The Victorian held one of the nine division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4247, drawn Saturday 2 April 2022 and takes home $606,096.94.

It’s the second TattsLotto division one win to land in the region during the past month. In March, a 20-member syndicate shared a $1.25 million prize.

We spoke to the winner shortly after he discovered his division one win this morning.

“Wow, I can’t believe this,” he said.

"I go to the paper shop every couple of days, and that’s when I check my TattsLotto ticket and buy one for the following week.

“When they told me I’d won division one, I had to sit down. I felt very lightheaded! I had no idea they were even looking for a winner.

“I can’t begin to explain how much of a surprise it was. It’s just amazing!

“It’s been one of the best days of my life! This phone call is amazing!

“I’m planning to break the news to my family this weekend. I’m sure they’ll want to go out for a nice dinner to celebrate.

“I’m about 100 years old, so this prize is mostly for them. I’ll split it between them, so they can spoil themselves and feel like lottery winners!

“I’ll keep a small portion for myself. I might go to Melbourne for a weekend away to spoil myself. There’s really nothing I want, but it’ll be nice to buy things without worrying about the cost.

“Thank you so much. This is the best!”

The winner purchased his marked 8-game entry at Yarrawonga Authorised Newsagency, 81 Belmore Street, Yarrawonga.

Yarrawonga Authorised Newsagency owner Sue Castelow said the entire team was celebrating the major win.

“We are so excited to have sold another division one winning entry,” she said.

“Two weeks ago, we sold a division one winning syndicate entry. It’s fantastic we’ve sold another major prize winning entry so soon!

“This win has created a lot of talk and excitement around town. Everyone hopes they’re next to win big.

“We would love to wish our winner all the best. We’re so happy for you!”
