An Atherton woman has surprised herself and her colleagues this morning, showing up to work despite scoring a division one prize in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.

The Far North Queensland player held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4027 on Saturday 22 February 2020. Each division one winning entry takes home a prize of $642,608.33.

Sharing her excitement with us this morning, the winner relived the moment she discovered the life-changing news.

“I’m still in shock,” she eventually managed.

“It’s unbelievable!

“I checked the ticket yesterday morning. I yelled out to my husband to tell him to come have a look!

“We checked it over and over and over again.

“We thought we were going crazy. We thought we were seeing things!

“It’s absolutely surreal!”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her division one fortune, the woman said she wouldn’t be giving up work any time soon.

“I went to work this morning but it’s proving hard to remain calm,” she laughed.

“I’ll definitely keep working. I love my job!

“I have no idea what I’ll do with it just yet. I really don’t.

“The news certainly hasn’t sunk in. I need some time to think it all through but I know I will definitely enjoy it!”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning entry at Fresh St. Market IGA, Shop 5, Silo Central Shopping Centre, 2-4 Silo Road, Atherton. Fresh St.

Market IGA office manager Sophie Irvine said it was exciting news for the local community.

“It’s wonderful when these huge prizes go to a local,” she said.

“This is the third division one winning entry we’ve sold over the years and we couldn’t be happier for our customer.

“From the entire team, we’re ecstatic for you and we hope you enjoy your prize!”
