A Sunshine Beach man has been left in a state of shock after checking his Saturday Gold Lotto ticket days after the draw and realising he’d won more than $1.3 million.

The Sunshine Coast resident held one of the four division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4261 on Saturday 21 May 2022 and takes home $1,393,369.77.

Confirming his win with our team today, the man admitted he teared up after realising he’d become a millionaire.

“Thanks mate! This is unbelievable,” he said.

“It sounds so good hearing it said out loud, $1.3 million, what a Thursday it’s been.

“I scanned the ticket in-store and thought it might have been a joke, thank God it wasn’t!

“I’ve been playing these numbers for decades. I’m struggling to process the fact they’ve actually come up for me.

“First on my list of things to do is tell my children and share it with them, it’s going to make a huge difference for my family.

“But I can’t wait to buy myself a new car. I don’t know what it will be yet though.

“Thanks so much for the call, it’s the best feeling in the world.”

The elated winner purchased his marked 12-game entry at Noosa Plaza Newsagency, Shop 3, Noosa Plaza Shopping Centre, Sunshine Beach Road, Noosa Heads.

Noosa Plaza Newsagency owner Peter Bashford said he was elated to have sold a division one winning entry and said his store had been celebrating all week.

“We’ve had balloons in the store all week and we popped a bottle of champagne when we realised we’d sold a division one winning ticket,” he said.

“Our customers have been so happy for the winner and so are we.

“It’s been some time since we sold a division one winning entry so this is an incredible time for us.

“We’re so excited for the winner and want to wish them all the best for the future, I’m sure it will change their lives immeasurably for the better!”
