A Western Sydney man spent his morning sitting in his car in shock after checking his Saturday Lotto ticket he found on the passenger seat to realise it’s won him $2 million.

The New South Wales player held one of the 10 division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto’s $20 Million Superdraw, draw 4071 on 25 July 2020. Each entry won a division one prize of $2,000,000.

Confirming his win with us this morning, the multi-millionaire said he was struggling to come to terms with his morning discovery.

“Thank you very much,” he laughed.

“This is crazy! That’s the only way I can describe it — pure craziness.

“I only checked the ticket this morning. I jumped into my car and saw the ticket there, and I’d completely forgotten about it!

“When I scanned it over and over and saw I had won I just couldn’t believe it! It’s honestly amazing.

“I only play lotto occasionally, maybe about once a month. I never actually thought this would happen to me!”

With an extra $2 million soon to land in his bank account, the Sydney man said retirement suddenly looked a whole lot better.

“We really want to do some renovations on our home,” he explained.

“So this will certainly allow us to do that! And my wife and I are both semi-retired so we will put this towards our retirement fund and will be able to just really enjoy ourselves!

“It will be incredible.”

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his System 8 QuickPick at Robertson Newsagency, 91A Hoddle Street, Robertson.

Robertson Newsagency owner Hope Waters said selling the outlet’s first division one winning entry felt like she had won the lottery herself.

“This is wonderful!” she said.

“There’s plenty of excitement around. In the current climate with all the uncertainty, fancy being able to hand a $2 million winning ticket to someone!

“All our customers are incredibly excited to hear the news, and they are all hoping it will be them next time!

“Congratulations to our winner. We hope they really enjoy it and can put their winnings to good use.”
