If you had the power to make one of your childhood dreams come true, what would it be?

Would you become an astronaut and head straight to the moon? Or take centre stage as a prima ballerina?

For avid reader and writer Lachlan Seipel, his dream was to be a published author but when he was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer at 17, that dream was suddenly put on hold.

But to keep him motivated and positive during his treatment, he began to write a novel about a guardian angel and that’s when Starlight Children’s Foundation stepped in, granting him a Starlight Wish.

A Starlight Wish is based on the needs of seriously ill children and can range from gifts, to travel and experiences.

His long-held ambition of becoming an author came true.  With the help of Scholastic Australia, his novel The Angels Under the Earth made it to print.

Through his Starlight Wish, Lachlan gained invaluable insights into the publishing world and hosted his very own book launch event, a moment he treasures and considers as a turning point in his life.

Recently, we donated $250,000 from Golden Casket unclaimed prize money to Starlight Children’s Foundation to fund 38 Starlight Wishes.

We can’t wait to see more wish’s like Lachlan’s come true!
