My Room Children’s Cancer Charity has rounded off Childhood Cancer Awareness month by raising a record amount for their 2022 Telethon.

On Thursday, 22 September, as part of its fundraising Telethon, My Room, along with the support of Channel 9’s Grand Final Footy Show, raised over $3.375 million to support sick kids and their families in Victoria.

My Room is a Victorian volunteer-run organisation dedicated to increasing the childhood cancer survival rate for over 25 years.

During this time, it’s raised more than $27 million for research, clinical care, and family support, all to improve the quality of life for children with cancer.

My Room has a straightforward goal: working towards a 100% cure rate for children with cancer.

For the past four years, The Lott has donated $100,000 to My Room to support their work helping the Victorian community.

My Room CEO Margaret Zita OAM expressed her thanks to everyone who supported the organisation and its important goal of helping families until there’s a cure.

“We will now forge forward to ensure that we get this money where it is needed. We are striving for children to get the best treatment they deserve in this country while we support them on their journey,” she said.

“We are so grateful for The Lott’s ongoing support to My Room.

“Together, we are making a difference.”

The Lott’s Partnerships Manager Ally Ramsamy said she was proud to support such an important organisation.

“The work My Room does for the community in the children’s cancer space is both incredible and vital,” she said.

“Without them, many families and children would miss out on the specialist support they so desperately need.

“The fact that My Room has achieved what it has is a testament to the founding families, the volunteers, and all who donate.”
