From uni to immediate retirement: MacGregor man in his 20s to focus on family and friends with $20 million Powerball prize

How about winning $20 million to finish off 2020!?

A MacGregor man scored the entire division one Powerball prize last night and while his family were all asleep and missed his excited calls, we were able to chat to the winner just moments after he made the winning discovery.

“Oh man! Oh my god! I can’t believe it!” he yelled.

“I’m never going to work again!

The generous uni student shared his life was about to become less about exams and textbooks and more about the people who matter most.

“People give their whole lives to work, but I’m going to put my family and friends first. I’m going to help them and surprise them – some have been through a tough year.”

The Brisbane player is the 13th Powerball division one winner this year.

Cronulla Lotto winner celebrates cash deluge by… doing the washing up

It’s easy to feel dazed at this time of year with the summer heat and holidays on the horizon. But a Cronulla man was sent into even more of a stupor thanks to his Christmas lottery win.  What did he do when he discovered the news?

“I’ve been cleaning the house. I’ve just done the dishes. I just don’t know what to do with myself,” he said.

“What are you supposed to do when you win Lotto?”

The stunned man shared that his $883,000 prize would make for plenty of exciting new possibilities in 2021.

Launceston couple’s dreams suddenly come true thanks to TattsLotto division one win

Far from doing the dishes, a Tasmanian couple are happily planning to buy their first home thanks to their Lotto windfall.

“We’ve wanted to buy a house all our lives and now we can do that!” the ecstatic pair shared.

“It’s unbelievable and so overwhelming. We’re just so happy!”

While this Christmas will be unforgettable, the husband and wife are no doubt already looking forward to spending next Christmas in their dream home.

Lighting up Christmas for sick kids

While we love hearing how the news of a lottery win is lighting up Christmas for our winners, we’re also proud to partner with The Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation and Channel 9 for their Light Up Xmas Appeal.

The event aims to raise $1 million in much-needed funds for sick children and their families heading into the Christmas break and will give a sneak peek into the magic and everyday miracles that occur across the hospitals and services we help support.

You can catch the three-hour special on Saturday 19 December from 2pm AEDT on Channel 9!
