An Aspendale Gardens man has declared he will spend the $25,000 top prize he scored on a $2 Grow Me the Money Instant Scratch-Its ticket on ‘something outrageous’.

The winning ticket was purchased at Aspendale Gardens News & Lotto, Shop 17, Aspendale Garden Centre, Cnr Narelle Drive & Kearney Road, Aspendale.

Sharing his excitement with us today, the delighted winner recounted the moment he discovered the instant win.

“It’s very exciting! I had to look at the ticket about three times before I realised I wasn’t seeing things!” he laughed.

“I still didn’t want to get my hopes up, and I didn’t believe it until I took it into the newsagency and checked it.

“When they told me that they couldn’t pay it, I knew for sure we had won something big, but until I saw it in my bank account, I wasn’t going to believe it.

“We told our family, and even they didn’t believe us until we showed them the receipt!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his instant windfall, the thrilled winner declared he was planning a shopping spree for himself and his wife.

“We’re going to spend it on something outrageous!” he exclaimed.

“I think I’ll head straight to Tiffany’s for a ring for my wife. I’ve got to keep her happy!

“I’m sure I will find something for myself to spend it on as well!”

The thrilled winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket at Aspendale Gardens News & Lotto. Aspendale Gardens News & Lotto owner Nary Sea said she was very happy to hear her outlet had sold a top prize winning entry.

“We are so excited one of our customers has won $25,000!” she explained.

“We’ll be telling all of our customers that we’ve sold a top prize. They will be very excited for us! We’re sure the word will spread quickly.

“We’ve sold quite a few major wins over the years. The most recent was a division one prize in July last year. We’ve sold plenty of division two winning entries too.

“It’s very exciting. We feel like a very lucky shop!

“We’re a small shop but we have big wins!

“Congratulations to our winner! We wish them all the best!”
