A Burton dad is looking forward to upgrading his family home to finally give each of his kids their own room after scratching one of the top prizes of $200,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The winning $15 Play Book Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Springbank Plaza Lotto Kiosk, Shop 16, Springbank Plaza Shopping Centre, 382-396 Waterloo Corner Road, Burton.

Speaking with an official from the Lott today, the thrilled bloke confessed it had felt like a long, slow two days as he waited to claim his prize.

“It was pretty unbelievable when I saw I had won!” he exclaimed.

“You never think you are going to win, and I never thought I’d win $200,000 that’s for sure!

“We buy Instant Scratch-Its tickets every now and then, and scratch them as a way to relax at the end of a busy week after we’ve put the kids to bed.

“We always get a Play Book or Crosswords ticket as they take a bit longer to play and are a good way to wind down.

“I scratched the ticket on Friday night and I couldn’t believe it.

“We definitely did some celebrating that night and we couldn’t sleep afterwards.

“It was a long two-day wait over the weekend until I could claim the prize first thing Monday. The days went pretty slowly!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his instant windfall, the family man said he couldn’t wait to upgrade his house.

“We’ll definitely be getting a bigger house!” he declared.

“We’ve got kids and we’ve outgrown the house we are in, so we’ll put it towards getting a house where they can have their own rooms.

“It will be a big help towards that!”

Springbank Plaza Lotto Kiosk owner Christine Hardy said she was thrilled for her regular customer.

“He came in and told us he had won and I couldn’t believe it! I thought he was kidding!” she exclaimed.

“He is such a lovely customer and we are so happy it was won by regular and a local.

“We’ve sold a couple of top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its in the past but nothing as big as this!

“It’s definitely the biggest major prize we’ve sold in a while!

“We are absoluately thrilled for our customer! We wish him all the best!”
