Toowoomba woman holds onto $25,000 winning moment for more than six months
A Toowoomba woman has held onto that ‘winning moment’ for more than six months, after today claiming a $25,000 Instant Scratch-Its prize on a ticket she scratched in October.
The top prize winning $2 ticket was purchased at North Point News, Shop 2, North Point Shopping Centre, Toowoomba. Sharing her excitement with us this morning, the winner revealed she knew she’d won all along, and the reason for the six month delay.
“I scratched it back in October and I have been keeping it in a safe place ever since,” she explained.
“When I scratched it I thought ‘wow, I’ve won $25,000’ and I just wanted to savour the moment for as long as possible!
“I was running around getting everyone to double check it for me to make sure I wasn’t seeing things!
“It was unbelievable! I’ve never had a win like it!
“I buy Instant Scratch-Its tickets every week and I still have been since the big win and I’ve even had a couple of little wins since then!”
The Queenslander revealed her prize would go a long way and after more than six months of dreaming she knew exactly how she’d enjoy it.
“It’s certainly going to help me out,” she said.
“It will come in handy for a few things I have to do around the house!”
North Point News employee Karen Simpson said it was great to hear their regular customer had finally claimed her prize.
“We were all so excited when she came in months ago and told us she had a big win so it’s a relief to know she’s finally claimed her prize!” she said.
“All the best to her!”
