The cat’s out of the bag! On Tuesday morning, a Chatswood dad took out the mind-blowing $96.04 million jackpot prize in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot, catapulting him into the history books as Australia’s second-biggest individual lottery winner.

Up until Tuesday’s historic draw, the largest jackpot prize ever won in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot was a whopping $38,185,000, which was claimed by a New South Wales woman in 2011.

That record was overtaken in January of this year and since then the jackpot prize has been soaring, cracking $70 million in June, $80 million in July, and $90 million just earlier this month! Games were selling out in less than 48 hours and hundreds of 1st Prize winners were crowned, but the jackpot prize continued to elude Aussies as no winning number matched the jackpot number— until now!

The Chatswood dad, who is a regular Lucky Lotteries player, has made history and brought this record-breaking jackpot roll to a close by becoming the county’s newest multi-millionaire and the second biggest individual lottery winner across all Australian lottery games.

What a year it’s been for Lucky Lotteries — check out some of the un-purr-lievable facts from this unprecedented jackpot roll:

  • It’s been 959 days since the previous jackpot prize in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot was won by a young woman from Rydalmere. She took home $7.48 million in January 2017, with plans to use her multi-million-dollar windfall to volunteer overseas, go on a cruise and treat herself to a Chanel handbag.
  • Since that last jackpot prize win, there have been 397 Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draws, with each draw crowning a 1st Prize winner who pocketed $200,000. Together, these 397 1st Prize winners have taken home $79.4 million in 1st Prize money.
  • There have been plenty of incredible winning moments during this jackpot roll, including some winners who had lightning strike twice! A Newcastle woman, a Paramatta dad, and an Eltham Grandmother all won the 1st Prize of $200,000 two times.
Lucky Lotteries first began in August 1931 in Sydney, New South Wales with a Manly woman taking out the 1st Prize offering of £5000. Eighty-eight years and seven days later, Tuesday’s historic windfall landed just a few suburbs over, changing the life of another Sydneysider with a mind-blowing $96.04 million.

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $1 million for draw 1448 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $3.49 million for draw 10308.
