If you’re feeling something stirring in the wind, something that gives you goosebumps or makes you shiver, maybe you need to check your calendar. Today is Friday the 13th— a date that’s been considered superstitious since the Middle Ages!

With this rare occasion upon us, we’ve been delving into the world of the unexplainable, taking a look at the curious and inexplicable items and habits that can seemingly sway the fates.

From a rabbit’s foot, ancient coins, and thimbles collected from across the globe — superstitious Aussie players have revealed the charms they hope could deliver them a win.

We surveyed our players and found about one-in-five Aussie lottery players admitted to being superstitious. Many admitted they'd never even think about leaving the house without their lucky charm and certainly wouldn’t buy a lottery ticket if they weren’t holding on to it.

42% of players who did have a lucky charm said it had delivered them a lottery or competition win in the past. They also shared their special objects had previously helped them secure good carparks, land good jobs, find love, and keep them safe while flying.

While some players place their trust in more traditional lucky charms, like a four-leaf clover, a horseshoe, or a spiritual figurine, others use more unique and personal items.

One player revealed that they collect their cat’s whiskers when they fell out!

If anyone else out there is ‘feline’ like a lucky cat could bring them a win, Friday the 13th might be the day to play!

Lucky Lotteries is one of Australia’s longest running games and guarantees over 10,000 winners in every draw. Championed by Lucky the cat, the game has been a favourite of feline lovers for years.

A Goulburn man who won the 1st Prize of $200,000 in a Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw last year confessed he was drawn to buy his winning entry because the game’s feline mascot looked like his own black and white cat.

For players seeking instant fun, the $1 Black Cat Cash Instant Scratch-Its could be just the ticket. This themed ticket gives you the chance to win one of two top prizes of $10,000 from the $600,000 prize pool.

Only time will tell if we’ll see any windfalls occur today.

And whether you're superstitious or not, there’s a great range of your favourite games you can play any day of the week!
