Woman from Young brought to tears by “once in a blue moon” $100,000 Lucky Lotteries win
A woman from Young has declared she can’t stop crying after discovering she won a “once in a blue moon” $100,000 Lucky Lotteries prize.
The New South Wales player won the 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10458, drawn Tuesday 4 May 2021.
Although the ticket was registered to a Players Club card, the winner’s contact details were out of date so The Lott was unable to deliver the winning news.
Speaking with an official from The Lott two weeks after the draw, the elated woman said she’d been dreaming of the moment she’d one day win the lottery.
“Golly gosh,” she exclaimed.
“I just can’t believe this is happening to me!
“I only found out the other day. I had received a letter urging me to check my tickets and so I decided I should probably go and do that.
“After the lady in the newsagency checked the ticket, she went completely blank for a few seconds.
“Then she started looking at the ticket and reading the screen and then looked back at me. Then she told me she needed to tell me something privately.
“That’s when I found out I won!
“I started screaming ‘oh my god, oh my god!’.
“My heart was racing! I felt so nervous and jittery.
“As soon as I found out, I called my husband and that’s when I started crying. He thought there was something wrong, but I said it was the opposite and then I told him what happened.
“He couldn’t believe it! He could barely say a word, and I could barely stop crying.
“We had some wine to celebrate that night.
“We just kept saying how crazy it was. This kind of thing happens once in a blue moon, and now it’s happened to me.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her windfall, the emotional winner thought of her family first.
“It is a huge help,” she declared.
“We are going to share a large portion of it with our family and the rest we will keep for the future.”
The winning entry was purchased at Townhall Newsagency, 188 Boorowa Street, Young.
Townhall Newsagency owner Pauline Cottrell said she was ecstatic to hear the winner had been united with her prize.
“It’s fantastic news,” she explained.
“We are over the moon for our winner and do wish her all the best with her prize.
“It creates such a buzz when someone wins! I think we get just as excited as we suspect the winners do.
“We are hoping that we have some more major wins soon.”
