The revelation he’d become an overnight millionaire was enough to send a Beenleigh retiree’s heart racing and almost make him drop the phone while on the winning phone call.

The Queenslander held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4031, drawn Wednesday 2 December 2020. Each division one winning entry takes home a $1 million prize.

The happy man couldn’t contain his excitement when we confirmed his millionaire status this morning.

“You’re joking! One million dollars? I’ve won a million dollars?” he exclaimed.

“Am I awake or am I dreaming? My heart is racing. Wow!

“Can I tell you something, I was just looking at the results when you rang. It said there was a Queensland winner and that Queensland winner is me!

“I don’t know what to say.

“I’m going to drop the phone I’m shaking so much. I can hardly talk!”

The generous dad said he knew exactly how he might use some of his windfall.

“My family are going to be rapt because they’re going to benefit,” he declared.

“I’m going to buy my daughter a house. She’s been looking for a while, but prices are all over the place. I can’t wait to ring my daughter and tell her. She won’t believe me.

“I don’t need much, but I might upgrade the car and get a Hyundai.”

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning marked 12-game entry at Beenleigh Mall Newsagency, Shop 23, Beenleigh Mall, 40-68 Main Street, Beenleigh.

Beenleigh Mall Newsagency owner Rob Adamson said it was great to have another division one win land in the region.

“It’s brilliant, mate. We’ve been telling people and they’re all so stoked. They just love to hear it happens and that dreams can come true,” he said.

“It’s good it’s one of our local and regular customers. The fact he’s going to help his family is just terrific.

“We wish him all the very best with his prize.”
