Cabramatta shopper claims cool $1 million Wednesday Lotto win
A Cabramatta shopper has scored a cool $1 million after winning division one in this week’s Wednesday Lotto draw.
The Sydney player held one of the three division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3863, drawn Wednesday 24 April 2019. Each winning entry took home a division one prize of $1,000,000.
Today the winner claimed their prize and will soon see their bank account balloon.
But who they are and how they will use their prize will forever be a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous.
The winning entry was purchased at Mitchum Newsagency, Shop 2, 81-83 John Street, Cabramatta.
Mitchum Newsagency co-owner Dien Khuu said the win was especially significant given his outlet was destroyed by fire about 18 months ago.
“When my team member Jessica yelled ‘we sold a division one last night!" from the back of the shop, my first thought was ‘Yes! Mitchum is back!’,” he said.
“Our team members were on such high that they created two tall balloon columns to display outside our shop by 10.30am!
“Many of our customers will be ecstatic for us! When our shop burnt down on November 2017, many of our customers predicted a division one win when we reopened.
“According to Chinese and Vietnamese superstition, when a shop catches fire and reopens, the ‘environment’ will be very fertile. In our case, the fertile environment will bring in a division one win within a year of reopening.
“Many of our customers have been predicting this division one win for the 11 months that it took us to reopen the shop! And they were right! It only took us seven months to achieve this milestone!
“This is the sixth division one win in the 16 years since we took over Mitchum Newsagency. The last time we sold a division one win was for the $25 million Powerball in 2014.
“We would like to thank our division one winner for coming back and supporting our outlet after we reopened. We wish them all the very best!”
