Central Coast couple in a daze after million-dollar Monday Lotto news
A Central Coast couple say they’re set up for the rest of their lives and are now planning their dream retirement after receiving a phone call this morning with the news they’re $1 million richer.
The New South Wales retirees held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3976, drawn Monday 25 May 2020, and take home a division one prize of $1 million.
This morning we contacted the couple to break the life-changing news, who had no idea they’d scored division one.
“Good heavens! Are you for real?” they questioned.
“Is this serious? Good heavens!
“Oh for goodness sake. Oh dear.
“We’ve been playing for years.
“This is absolutely amazing. Absolutely amazing.
“I can’t believe it. This is fantastic!
“We mark our entries with the same numbers every week, but they aren’t the numbers that won last night, those were just random numbers.
“How incredible. We really can’t believe it!”
When asked how they planned to enjoy their windfall, the overwhelmed husband and wife said they’d be set up for the rest of their life.
“We will have to think very carefully about how we invest the money,” they said.
“It will be perfect for retirement to just enjoy and relax.
“We will give the children a little bit each. They are all doing so well but a little help along the way is always very nice.
“This is absolutely amazing. We really can’t believe it!”
The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning 10-game marked entry at Deepwater Plaza Newsagency, Shops 14-15, Deepwater Plaza, Railway Street, Woy Woy.
Deepwater Plaza Newsagency owner Kylie Swinford said it had been exactly 12 months since the outlet had sold their last division one winning entry.
“This is such fantastic news for the local community,” she said.
“It’s great to hear it’s been claimed by a local couple.
“Congratulations to them! We wish them all the very best.”
