Gosford man declares $1 million Lotto win the end of bad luck streak
An essential worker from Gosford has declared his $1 million division one win in last night’s Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw the end to his string of bad luck.
The hardworking Central Coast man held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3967, drawn Wednesday 22 April 2020, and takes home a division one prize of $1 million.
In addition to winning the coveted division one prize, his System 7 entry also won division three 6 times, bolstering his total prize to $1,003,101.40.
When we contacted the man this morning, he confessed he had seen several missed calls but assumed they were from someone trying to sell him something.
“Wow! That’s unbelievable! Wow! It’s come completely out of the blue. I had no idea I had won!” he exclaimed.
“I’m just getting ready to go to work, as I am considered an essential worker.
“I had seen a couple of missed calls on my phone this morning, but I thought they would just be from a charity or company trying to get me to buy something – not the opposite!
“It is just so unbelievable. What a fantastic feeling knowing I’m a millionaire!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his future as a newly-minted millionaire, the happy man revealed he saw the windfall as an end to a streak of bad luck.
“I’ve had a bit of a tough time over the past few years so this will make life a lot easier,” he explained.
“I lost my home about five years ago and have been saving up to get a new house and stop worrying about renting.
“We had a close call earlier this year with the bushfires but fortunately we stayed safe.
“This win will mean I am able to finally consider retiring in a few years knowing that I am set up for my future.
“Mate, it’s just unbelievable.”
The humble winner said that his new millionaire status would not prevent him from heading off to work today.
“I’m still going to go to work today but afterwards I’ll do something to celebrate,” he laughed.
“I’ve got two beautiful kids and I can’t wait to tell them. They’ll be so excited for their Dad.”
The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his System 7 QuickPick entry at West Gosford Newsagency, Shop 27 West Gosford Shopping Centre, 299 Brisbane Water Drive, West Gosford.
West Gosford Newsagency manger Arif Ahmed said he was surprised and thrilled to discover the outlet had sold a division one winning entry.
“We’ve been hoping to sell a division one winning entry since we changed management,” he said.
“A lot of customers have been asking us when the last time we sold a big winner was so it will be great to tell them we’ve sold a division one prize.
“Over the years the outlet has sold a few major prize wins but this is the first division one prize we’ve sold in a while.
“We hope our winning streak continues for our customers!
“Congratulations to the winner – we wish them a very happy life with their windfall!”
