Forget rubies, sapphires and gold, an Altona Meadows woman has received a belated wedding anniversary gift of $1 million after winning division one in last night’s Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw.

The Victorian held one of the three division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4062, drawn Monday 22 March 2021. Each entry takes home $1 million.

Confirming her prize first thing this morning with us, the happy winner revealed she and her husband had recently celebrated a major wedding anniversary.

“This feels like a bit of a belated wedding anniversary gift,” she laughed.

“This will set us up for retirement. We’ve been planning to retire shortly and this will set us up for the rest of our lives.

“After the past year we’ve had with lockdowns, this is just unbelievable. I guess I’m excited, but I can’t quite believe it.

“We were sitting here watching TV last night, and I suddenly remembered to check my ticket. All I could do was pass my husband the phone and say, ‘look at this, look at this!’.

“I only bought this ticket on a whim. I thought, ‘you know what, I might have a go tonight’.

“I don’t normally play Monday & Wednesday Lotto at all. I was just walking past, and I just decided to pop in and get a ticket and try my luck on a Monday. Luck was on my side!”

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning 24-game QuickPick entry at Central Lotto, Shop 14, Central Square Shopping Centre, 1 Central Avenue, Altona Meadows.

Central Lotto owner Bruce Zheng said he was excited to discover his outlet had created a newly-minted millionaire.

“I’m so excited! I can’t believe it!” he exclaimed.

“It’s a very good win for our customers during these tough times.

“We hope it has come at the right time for our customers.

“One million dollars is a great amount for them and their family. It’s great for the community too.

“We are so very happy for them. We wish them all the best with their prize!”
