As Australians eagerly anticipate tonight’s $40 million Oz Lotto jackpot, exclusive research has revealed exactly what types of entries have made Oz Lotto millionaires so far this year.

Since January this year, $75 million has been won by six Oz Lotto winners across the Lott jurisdictions of Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Remarkably, all of these six Oz Lotto wins have come from QuickPick entries, including one of each 6-game, 18-game, 24-game and 50-game entries, along with two 12-game entries.

The last time the Oz Lotto jackpot hit $40 million, just over a month ago on 30 May, the entire prize was won by a young Cairns mother with an unregistered 6-game QuickPick.

Australia’s Official Lotteries - the Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said tonight’s humongous $40 million division one prize was the equal highest Oz Lotto jackpot amount in almost two years.

“Anticipation has been building as the Oz Lotto division one prize pool has jackpotted for five consecutive weeks to reach $40 million,” he said.

“While every number has an equal chance of being drawn, it’s surprising to see that all of our six Oz Lotto winners this year have had QuickPick entries!

“Of course, the big question is will this trend continue if we have a winner tonight?”

Mr Hart said the best advice he could give customers wanting a chance to win a share of tonight’s $40 million prize was to buy an entry early.

“Regardless of whether you select your own numbers by marking a coupon, purchase a QuickPick where the numbers are randomly selected for you, or share a larger syndicate entry, you do need to have an entry to be in with a chance,” he said.

“Lottery outlets are expecting a busy day today as people make a last dash to buy their tickets, with around half of all entries expected to be purchased on the day of the draw.

“We always recommend players register their entry to a player’s card. Not only does registration ensure your prize is secure, it also ensures you receive that life-changing phone call with the amazing news of a first division win.”

The Lott’s division one winning tally so far this calendar year has reached 201, including 55 Golden Casket customers, 55 NSW Lotteries customers, 76 Tatts customers and 15 SA Lotteries customers.T
