One week on: Queensland’s $10 million Powerball prize still looking for an owner
It may have been one week since the winning Powerball numbers were drawn, but there’s been no sight of the Queensland division one winner who is now more than $10 million richer.
It seems the state’s elusive new multi-millionaire has yet to discover they hold the only one division one winning entry across Australia in Powerball draw 1123 on Thursday 23 November 2017.
The draw’s entire jackpot of $10,658,989.09 awaits the winner.
The winning entry was purchased at Chatswood Hills News & Casket Agency, Shop 34, Chatswood Hills Shopping Centre, Magellan Road, Springwood.
As the the winning entry was not registered to a Winners Circle card, Golden Casket officials have no way to contact the winner and is urgently calling on customers to check their entries.
Despite a region-wide search during the past seven days, Golden Casket spokesperson Matt Hart said the Powerball division one winner had yet to come forward to claim their multi-million dollar prize.
“We’re in the business of uniting winners with their prizes so we haven’t given up hope that our Powerball division one winner will soon discover they’re now a multi-millionaire,” he said.
“From past experience, division one winners sometimes keep their tickets in all sorts of places around the home, car and office. It could even be hiding in plain sight in a wallet or purse just waiting to be checked at a retail outlet, online or with the Lott mobile app.
“If you discover you’re holding the winning entry, make contact with us as soon as possible on 131 868 to begin the prize claim process.”
Chatswood Hills News & Casket Agency owner Soni Dahiya said the win had been the talk of the outlet for the past week.
“We’ve had a lot of people coming in to check their tickets and asking if the winner has been found yet,” he said.
“This is the fourth time we’ve sold a division one winning entry since 2006 when we started at this outlet, but they were all smaller prizes compared to this big Powerball win!
“We hope our winning customer checks their ticket soon and discovers the happy news!”
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1123 on Thursday 24 November 2017 were 39, 17, 36, 35, 27 and 33, while the all-important Powerball was 7.
Last financial year, 18 Powerball division one winning entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions won more than $273 million. During this time, the biggest individual division one Powerball prize was won by a syndicate of Queensland Government workers who took home $55 million.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 382 so far this calendar year, including 99 won by Golden Casket customers.
