Two winning entries across two states shared tonight’s mind-blowing $70 million Powerball jackpot, with the entries winning more than $35 million each!

The two division one winning Powerball entries worth $35,904,620.67 each were purchased in Queensland and New South Wales.

Tatts Lotteries spokesperson Elissa Lewis said there has been a great result in tonight’s Powerball draw.

“It’s fantastic to see that the $70 million Powerball jackpot, the largest jackpot prize offered in Australia so far this year, has been won by two entries across state borders,” Ms Lewis said.

“The $35.9 million Powerball prize in Queensland has been won by an individual unregistered entry. As the entry is not registered to a player card, we’re unable to contact the winner following the draw.

“We strongly encourage all players in Queensland who purchased an unregistered ticket in tonight’s $70 million Powerball draw to check their tickets as soon as possible!” Ms Lewis said.

“And following the draw there are now 15 new multi-millionaires in Greater Western Sydney!

“A 15-member syndicate who purchased their Powerball tickets from an outlet in Greater Western Sydney will claim a share of $2.4 million each from their division one prize along with other divisional prizes for a total of $36,013,700.12 thanks to their System 9 entry type!

“But if you missed out on the $70 million division one prize in Powerball tonight, make sure you check your ticket as there were more than 1.7 million prizes won across Australia in divisions two to eight, sharing in a prize pool of $36.8 million!”

The winning numbers in Powerball’s $70 million jackpot draw 953 on Thursday 21 August 2014 were 32, 8, 5, 40, 19 and 7 and the all-important Powerball number was 12.

Customers who purchased Powerball entries in Queensland and New South Wales are encouraged to check their tickets as soon as possible to discover if they’ve shared in the $70 million Powerball division one prize pool!
