Sydney factory workers scoop $40 million Powerball prize!
Fourteen factory workers from Sydney have woken up today new multi-millionaires after their shared entry in last night’s $40 million Powerball draw scooped the entire division one jackpot prize!
The self-described hard workers, who said they put in long hours at work to earn extra money, have ended their week with an unexpected boost to their pay packets after their PowerHit 20 entry scored first division and other divisional prizes totalling $40,445,165.25 in last night’s Powerball draw!
“We’re so excited this morning!” the syndicate leader declared.
“I got a phone call last night after the draw from one of the syndicate members who asked me to check our ticket because he was sure we’d just won Powerball!
“After I checked our ticket and saw that we had all the winning numbers, the phone calls were flying around – my phone was ringing like mad. Everyone was calling everyone about the win – it’s was crazy!
“Some of the syndicate members were shaking, others told me they had goose bumps. One of the guys even said his hair was standing on end and his face was tingling from the shock of it all!
“I’m just so glad I’ve had the opportunity to share this unbelievable win with my work colleagues! We’re all hard workers and we all put in long shifts at work to earn some extra money for our families. We’ll be having some sort of get-together soon to celebrate this big win.
“It was actually an out-of-the-blue entry in last night’s $40 million Powerball draw. Yesterday I was at work and just decided to organise a workplace syndicate entry - everyone put some money in and now we’ve hit the jackpot!
“You always read about people winning division one and think if only, and suddenly it’s happened to us! I’m not too sure if anyone has made any plans yet but I’ll be retiring and I think a few of the others might too.”
The winners have chosen to remain anonymous.
The division one winning PowerHit 20 entry was purchased at The Mall Newsagency Campbelltown, Shop 32, Upper Level in Campbelltown Mall, Queen Street in Campbelltown.
Sandro Borsato is the manager of The Mall Newsagency Campbelltown and was overjoyed the outlet had sold the $40 million winning Powerball entry.
“It’s fantastic! Finally we got a big one!” Mr Borsato exclaimed.
“It’s a dream come true for the staff at the outlet too! We’re over-the-moon to know that we’ve helped not just one but fourteen people become multi-millionaires!
“I think once news gets around that Campbelltown has sold a $40 million winning Powerball ticket, the place is going to be buzzing!”
