Jarvis Bay man retires on $3 million Powerball win!
Last Thursday night’s $3 million Powerball win in Vincentia has at last been claimed over the weekend by a man in his 50s from a suburb on the shores of Jervis Bay!
The excited man finally checked his Powerball ticket on Saturday morning and realised the 6-game entry made up of his marked favourite numbers had won the entire division one prize.
“It was very exciting! I didn’t even realise I’d won anything, let alone $3 million, until Saturday morning when I checked the winning Powerball numbers on my wife’s phone,” the man explained.
“I thought, ‘Jesus’! I had all the winning numbers and the Powerball - I had to check it about ten times before I could believe it!
“I’ve had a ticket in Powerball ever since it started using the same numbers and I’ve been playing for so long now I can’t remember why I chose them!
“The funny thing is, now that I’ve won I can’t even start to think of what I’ll do with a sum like $3 million!
“I’m going to retire early for the meantime and speak to a financial planner about the next steps from here.
”The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his 6-game marked entry from Cignall Tobacconist & Newsagent in the Vincentia Market Place on 8 Moona Creek Road in Vincentia.
Brent Hardie is the owner of Cignall Tobacconist & Newsagent which he opened just seven months ago in April.
“To be honest with you, from the day I opened the shop I have dreamed of hanging a division one plaque on our walls and to have been lucky enough to have had it come true within seven months of business is amazing!”Mr Hardie exclaimed.
“I’m just ecstatic! I’m genuinely really, really happy and so are my staff. I imagine the girls were nearly as excited and over-the-moon as our winner!
“It’s wonderful that a local customer has won it; it’s a win for Vincentia too!
”The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1070 on Thursday 17 November 2016 were 34, 4, 16, 10, 40 and 24.
The Powerball number was 11.Powerball will offer a $3 million division one prize pool for next week’s draw.
The Lott’s division one winning entry tally has reached 183 so far this financial year, including 53 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
