A Burnie father and son were “jumping up and down on the inside” when they checked their TattsLotto ticket at their local newsagency and discovered they won an incredible $2.5 million.

The happy winners held one of the eight division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4139, drawn Saturday 20 March 2021. Each division one winning entry takes home $2.5 million.

Sharing their excitement with us this afternoon, the Tasmanian pair said they were thrilled to be able to enjoy the win together.

“We are very good, thank you!” the father exclaimed.

“We found out yesterday. When I initially checked our ticket, I thought, ‘what the hell is going on here?’.

“We probably checked the ticket 100 times and then went down to the newsagency for them to confirm it.

“We were pretty discreet about it all, but inside we were jumping up and down and screaming.

“Life has been good for us, but this just makes things much better.

“It’s really great! Once the money is in our accounts, we will have a quiet dinner with our family to celebrate.”

When asked how they planned to enjoy their multi-million-dollar win, the duo had a few things in mind.

“I am going to use this to enjoy my retirement,” the dad said.

“There might be a few fishing trips and things like that.”

“I will use my half to help my family. I wouldn’t mind getting a new car, and I am sure there will be a few holidays in there for me too,” the son added.

“It certainly makes things a lot easier.”

The winning entry was sold at Burnie Newsagency, 18 Wilson Street, Burnie.

Burnie Newsagency owner Alan Berechree said he was thrilled his winners had claimed their life-changing TattsLotto prize.

“It’s such a great win, both for our outlet and for our winners,” he said.

“They came into the outlet to check their ticket, and it was a great moment to be a part of!

“We are so happy for them and wish them all the best.

“It certainly created a lot of buzz in the store. Hopefully, we have another big win soon!”
