A Cairns man admitted he is in complete disbelief, after discovering he won more than $692,000 in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw.

The Queensland player held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4021 on Saturday 1 February 2020. Each division one winning entry takes home a prize of $692,782.72.

We called the man this morning to confirm his prize, who explained he was still celebrating from his weekend discovery.

“I was pretty elated when I found out,” he laughed.

“I just couldn’t believe it! It’s not something you think will happen to you.

“It’s very exciting.

“I celebrated with my family on the weekend. We had some really nice champagne. It was great, I’m still so excited!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his prize, he declared he still needed time to let the news sink in.

“I am not really sure what I am going to do with it. I never thought I would win,” he explained.

“I will definitely share it with my family.”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his entry at NewsXpress Edge Hill, Shop 1, 139 Collins Avenue, Edge Hill.

NewsXpress Edge Hill owner Maxine Hare said she was excited to sell another division one winning entry.

“It’s so exciting,” she said.

“We have sold quite a few major prizes in the past.

“We sold a $40 million winning ticket less than two months ago, so we are very happy to make another one of our customers a happy winner!

“We feel very lucky, especially because it hasn’t been very long since we sold the last one.

“Our customers are very happy for us and our winner.

“We’d love to send our congratulations to our winner! We hope this win gives him great joy.”
