Carlingford retiree left spinning by million-dollar Saturday Lotto win
A Carlingford retiree has confessed his head has been left “spinning” by this morning’s revelation he is now a millionaire from the weekend’s Saturday Lotto.
The New South Wales player held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4009, drawn Saturday 21 December 2019. Each entry took home a division one prize of $1,075,621.64.
The Sydney man was oblivious to his win and quietly enjoying his breakfast when we interrupted with the winning news.
“Goodness me!” he exclaimed after a long pause.
“This is unbelievable. It’s amazing!
“I’m spinning. I’ll have to sit down in a bit.
“I’ve had a ticket in Saturday Lotto each week for the past decade. I got about $3,000 about a decade ago, and then little ones of $5 and $10. But this is very good.”
When asked how he might enjoy his million-dollar fortune, the winner said he and his wife’s retirement plans were set for a shake-up.
“We’ll wait until we see the money first,” his disbelieving wife added.
“When the dust settles, we’ll have a think about it all. It’s just incredible. You’ve ruined whatever else I was going to do today,” the man laughed.
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 24-game QuickPick entry at Carlingford Court Newsagency, Shop 119, 801-809 Pennant Hills Road, Carlingford.
