A Bray Park bloke is planning to celebrate winning a division one prize of over $400,000 the true Aussie way – by feasting on a pie with peas!

The Queensland man held one of the 10 division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3919, drawn Saturday 9 February 2019. Each entry took home a division one prize of $405,890.35.

As well as winning the division one prize, the winner’s System 7 marked entry also won division three 6 times, bolstering his total prize to $410,064.25.

Sharing his joy with us this afternoon, the retiree said he was overcome with emotion when he discovered the news.

“I didn’t believe it at first. I thought it could be a prank, but when I found out it was real, I was very, very shocked,” he admitted.

“I needed to sit down!

“I think I almost had a heart attack because I was so shocked! I just couldn’t believe it.

“I felt very emotional. My heart was fluttering like crazy!

“I called my family straight away and they were all really happy for me!

“I have been playing Saturday Gold Lotto for probably 30 or 40 years. I’ve been using the same marked numbers since then.

“They aren’t of any real significance. I picked them because they felt lucky at the time and I stuck with them because I thought they would come up eventually.”

When asked how he planned to spend his win, the Bray Park local said he would share it with those at the top of his Lotto List – his family.

“I want to get a beautiful home in a retirement village. It will mean I don’t have to sell my home before I buy one, which is a relief,” he shared.

“Then I will give some to my family. It will be a great help to them too.

“I will definitely go out for lunch to celebrate with my family this weekend. We will probably get fish and chips! Actually, no, we will get a pie with peas! Definitely a pie with peas!”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at Kensington Village Newsagency, Kensington Village Shopping Centre, 50 Kensington Way, Bray Park.

Kensington Village Newsagency owner Lynette Drew said she was thrilled the winner had finally discovered his win.

“We are so please the winner has been united with his prize,” she said.

“It is such great news and we hope he enjoys it!

“Hopefully this means we have some more big wins soon!”
