A Hervey Bay couple have returned home from a holiday to discover their family syndicate won division one prize in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.

The Queensland residents held one of the seven division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4165, drawn Saturday 19 June 2021. Each division one winning entry took home $829,511.77.

Sharing their excitement with us this morning, the pair explained they’d only just got home from a week away and checked their ticket.

“Thanks mate,” the winning man laughed.

“Thank you very much.

“It feels absolutely wonderful!

“There’s four of us who are part of this win. It’s a little family syndicate with our two adult children.
“We cannot wait to tell them the exciting news.

“Life has been pretty good to us but it just got even better!

“We couldn’t be happier.”

When asked how he and his wife might enjoy their share of the lottery fortune, the happy dad said it would take the pressure off.

“We’re both retired and living a really nice life but now we will be able to enjoy ourselves even more,” he explained.

“I know this will really help our children.

“They’ll be tickled pink!”

The winning entry was purchased at newsXpress Eli Waters, Shop 23, Eli Waters Shopping Centre, 2 Ibis Boulevard, Eli Waters. newsXpress Eli Waters owner Gisela Smith said she was thrilled to know the prize had gone to a local family.

“We are so happy to hear this news,” she said.

“It’s fantastic news not just for them and our store but for the community.

“This is the first division one winning entry we’ve sold since owning the store and we hope it’s the beginning of many more.

“Congratulations to them!”
