A Lakes Entrance woman has attributed her $1.4 million TattsLotto win to her late brother’s beloved pet bird after telling the cockatiel she wouldn’t have to re-home it if she won division one.

The Eastern Victorian resident held one of the seven division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4293, drawn Saturday 10 September 2022 and takes home a total prize of $1,428,579.98.

Confirming her win with us this morning, the mother of two relayed how the sublime win came about.

“I’m a bit nervous!” she giggled.

“The most I’ve ever won is $40,000, and I thought that was life-enhancing!

“I’d checked the winning numbers this morning and I couldn’t believe it.

“I went down to the local newsagency to confirm the win and they said, ‘I knew you’d win it!’

“Earlier in the week, I told my late brother’s pet bird that if I’d won the lottery, I wouldn’t have to re-home it at the bird sanctuary.

“It came to a point that I was contemplating back and forth if I could look after it due to my living situation, and I called up the sanctuary to organise it.

“The bird must’ve had a wake-up call and decided he wanted to still live with me!

“I looked at the bird this morning and I said, ‘You’re staying right here! You’re not going to the bird sanctuary.’

“It’s crazy!”

When asked how she planned to spend her million-dollar win, the victorious Victorian shared it would go towards a brand-new house.

“I can’t believe it; I’m going to own my very own home! It’s going to be in my name!” she cheered.

“I haven’t owned a house in over 12 years! I’ve even picked the house I want to live in already.

“My pets are going to be so confused when they move into a bigger space. I can just imagine my cat thinking, ‘What’s going on?!’ She’ll think the new place is some sort of palace.

“I can buy a new car too – maybe a Territory.

“The possibilities are endless!”

Her winning entry was purchased at Lakes Entrance Newspower, 297 The Esplanade, Lakes Entrance.

Lakes Entrance Newspower owner Jodie Naylor said the division one winning entry is amazing news for their outlet and community.

“We’re ecstatic to hear one of our customers has won a major lottery prize. Hopefully they’ll celebrate with a bottle of champagne, like us!” she said.

“We’ve already seen a large number of customers come by to see who might’ve won or if it was them.

“We sold our last division one winning entry in 2020, so hopefully there will be more to come. We can just imagine this is the start to a winning streak.

“Our entire team wish the winner lots of happy days to come! Congratulations to the winner.”
