A Modbury man is counting down the days to retirement after winning over $1.2 million in the weekend’s X Lotto draw.

The north eastern Adelaide resident held one of the three division one winning entries nationally in X Lotto draw 3951, drawn Saturday 1 June 2019.

Each entry took home a division one prize of $1,292,118.57.

Sharing his excitement with us this morning, the winner revealed he had been hoping to score a major prize for over three decades.

“Thank you so much! That’s so nice!” he exclaimed.

“It’s hard to believe it! I’ve been playing X Lotto for 30 years. I’ve won $20 or $25 a few times. Maybe once a month I would have a small win and the most I’ve ever won is $80.

“I’ve been playing all these years and I kept thinking to myself ‘when it is going to be my turn?’.

“I was always hoping to just win $1,000 or more but when I saw that I won over a million I thought ‘oh my god! My wish came true!’

“I still don’t believe it! Until I see those numbers in my account I don’t think I’ll believe it."

When asked how he planned to enjoy his new millionaire status the thrilled winner revealed he was counting down the days until he can retire.

“I am still working because I’ve got bills to pay and things to do but as soon as that money hits my account that’s it! I’ll stop working!” he declared.

“I’ll pay off my mortgage and share some with my family. There are a lot of people I want to share it with.”

The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his 14-game QuickPick entry at Clovercrest Newsagency, Shop 10 & 11 Clovercrest Plaza, 450 Montague Road, Modbury.

Clovercrest Newsagency owner Jason Bunting said he was very excited to hear his outlet had sold a division one winning entry.

“We are very excited for our winner and we hope to sell another winning entry soon!” he exclaimed.

“We will be telling all of our customers that we’ve sold a major prize and I think they will be happy to hear a local has won.

“We have been here for four years and this is our first division one winning entry.

“Congratulations to our winner on his win! We hope this is a dream come true and we wish him all the best for the future!”
