Mount Ommaney woman still jumping for joy at Gold Lotto division one win
A Mount Ommaney woman has been jumping for joy ever since she and her husband discovered they had pocketed a division one prize worth more than half a million dollars in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
The Brisbane resident held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto 3979 on Saturday 7 September 2019, with each entry taking home a division one prize of $573,928.68.
In addition to winning division one, the woman’s entry also won division three 6 times, bolstering her total prize to $580,273.98.
Sharing her joy with us this morning, the woman recounted how she realised she was a Gold Lotto division one winner.
“We discovered the news Saturday night actually,” she laughed.
“My husband always checks the entries. I didn’t really believe him. I had to look at the numbers for a while before I was convinced.
“We’ve been playing these numbers for years and years. They’re special numbers – family birthdates and things like that.
“I’ve been waiting a long time for this! I feel very lucky because some people never get to see their numbers to come up.
“I’m so excited. It’s just wonderful. I’ve been jumping around a lot!”
The happy winner confessed she couldn’t wait to see the prize in her bank account.
“I’ve just retired and it’s a big relief. It’s nice to know we won’t really have to worry now.
“It makes life just that little bit easier. You don’t worry too much if money will run out and that sort of thing. It really helps.
“There’s a few places in Australia I’ve always wanted to see, and overseas as well. But I won’t decide or make any plans until I see it in my bank account and make sure I’m not dreaming.”
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her marked System 7 entry at Middle Park News & Gifts, Shop 13, Park Village Shopping Centre, 92 Horizon Drive, Middle Park.
Middle Park News & Gifts owner Lissy Russell said seeing one of her customers win division one was like winning the big one herself.
“When I learnt of the shop's win I was so excited it felt like I had won, I immediately rung one of my staff members and told her,” she said.
“I have decorated the shop with balloons and will be sharing the news with everyone. So far this morning, all my regulars have been very excited.
“I have worked here for seven years and owned it myself for three years. I
t is my first division one win and hopefully it is a sign of things to come.
“I'd like to congratulate the winner and thank them for supporting my outlet.”
