A Lower Plenty man has said a sign from above that his luck was changing was the inspiration behind him buying a TattsLotto entry that scored him a division one prize of almost $900,000 in the weekend’s draw.

The Victorian winner held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4073, drawn Saturday 1 August 2020. Each entry took home a division one prize of $889,834.33.

Sharing his excitement with us this morning, the happy winner recounted the steps that led him to buy the winning entry.

“I’ve been having a bit of a tough year, and I’ve had a string of bad luck,” he explained.

“But the other day I was out and about running errands when I put my late family member’s pocket knife on top of my car.

“I thought I had lost it, but when I pulled up at my destination after driving for about 40 minutes, it was still sitting there on top of the car.

“I was so relieved. I’m not a big believer in life after death and the universe, but I felt like it was a sign that someone was looking out for me.

“I told a few people about the good luck I was experiencing, and they suggested I get a lottery ticket.

“So, I decided I would buy one the next day. I kept forgetting, and I ended up driving past three different stores before I finally stopped and got one.

“I’m glad I stopped at that one because that’s the one that sold me the winning numbers! I could have easily not got the right ticket if I had stopped at another!”

The happy winner then recounted how he discovered the winning news.

“I’d completely forgotten about it until yesterday when I realised the ticket was sitting on the front seat of my car. Imagine having nearly a million dollars just sitting there!” he exclaimed.

“I checked my ticket on the Lott app and saw that I had a huge win. I didn’t believe it. I thought there must be something wrong.

“So I deleted the app of my phone and re-downloaded it just to make sure.

“When I saw again that I had won I just kept looking at it. I couldn’t believe it!

“It’s such a good feeling. I don’t feel much different other than just feeling good.

“It feels like my luck is changing!”

When asked how he planned to spend his TattsLotto windfall, the happy man said he was looking forward to a stress-free future.

“I’ll help out a few immediate family members and pay off a few bills of my own,” he said.

“The main thing is I’ll be able to pay off my mortgage, which will save me a lot of stress.

“The win won’t solve all my problems, but it solves a hell of a lot!”

The happy man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at Lower Plenty Newsagency, 95 Main Road, Lower Plenty.

Lower Plenty Newsagency owner Chen Fang said he was excited to discover his outlet had sold a division one winning entry.

“We’ll be celebrating in store all week!” he exclaimed.

“This is the first time we’ve sold a division one winning entry, so we are thrilled.

“We have no idea how our customers will react when we tell them we’ve sold a major prize.

“Congratulations to our winner! We hope he continues to come back and visit our store since it has been so lucky for him!”
