A retired Yandina man has confessed to having a sleepless night after discovering he is now over $408,000 richer from winning Saturday Gold Lotto.

The stoked bloke was one of the ten division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto drawn on 15 September 2018. Each entry won the division one prize of $408,233.51.

The winning entry was not registered to a Winners Circle card so we had no way of contacting the winner to break the life-changing news and had to wait for them to come forward.

Fortunately, the winner was a regular player and ensured he checked his tickets regularly so we didn’t have to wait long for him to come forward to claim his prize.

When we spoke with the thrilled winner he recounted how he discovered the win.

“I actually checked the entry last night while I was at home,” the winner explained.

“I had said to my family, ‘Right, I’m going to cook tea then I’m going straight to bed’ and while I was cooking dinner I checked my numbers online.

“I checked the numbers, and checked, and checked them again to make sure I had won.

“It’s safe to say I didn’t finish making the tea! My family said ‘the chops are burning!’

“I didn’t get much sleep at all!”

When asked what he planned to do with his Gold Lotto win, the happy man confessed he knew exactly how he would spend it.

“It will go straight towards paying off the home loan!” he declared.

“I’ve already working out how much I’ll save in interest paying it off now. I can’t wait to go into the bank and say ‘here you are!’

“I’ll have a bit of change left over too which will give me a bit of play money! It’s certainly nothing to sneeze at!

“I’m very fortunate that I already have a great home and great family so this is just a great bonus.”

The regular player revealed how he chose his numbers on his marked entry.

“I always play a system but it depends on how I am feeling as to what numbers I play,” he explained.

“I usually pick my favourite numbers that include family birthdates which I have been playing for about 25 years as the core numbers.

“I then add the most frequently drawn numbers to make up the system entry.

“I’ve had a few smaller wins doing it that way but now I’ve got the big one!”

The winning entry was purchased at newsXpress Yandina, 2A Stevens Street, Yandina.
