Retirement is suddenly in reach for a St Ives man, describing his Saturday Lotto division one win as a cracking amount of money.

The New South Wales player held one of the five division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 4161, drawn Saturday 5 June 2021. Each entry won a division one prize of $1,172,770.07.

Days after the draw, we finally spoke to the Sydney resident to break the life-changing news.

“This sounds like it this could be good news!” he exclaimed.

“Seriously? Oh my god. You’re kidding?

“Thank you. That’s serious money!

“Who would have thought.

“The email said I had won a major prize, I thought maybe $10,000, but this is a cracking amount of money.

“Thank you. It’s fabulous.

“My wife is going to fall off her chair when I tell her this!”

With more than $1 million about to hit his bank account, the Sydney winner didn’t hesitate before revealing what he planned to do with his prize.

“Well to begin with, we will pay off the mortgage,” he declared.

“And we will be able to help the kids.

“We’re semi-retired but we will be able to completely retire now and we certainly won’t have to worry about anything. We will be able to simply enjoy ourselves!”

His life-changing 24-game QuickPick entry was purchased at St Ives Village Newsagency, Shop 23, St Ives Shopping Village, 166 Mona Vale Road, St Ives.

St Ives Village Newsagency owner Emma Thurlow said the outlet had been waiting for a division one win.

“It’s been four years since we sold the last division one winning entry,” she said.

“It was a complete surprise to all of us. I was stoked and we are so happy for our winner!

“Hopefully, this will start the ball rolling and we’ll have a few more big prizes won by our customers in quick succession!

“Congratulations to our winner! We hope they enjoy their prize with their family and friends.”
