A Sunnybank retiree says after forty years of dreaming about winning the lottery the day finally arrived on the weekend, reliving the moment he discovered he was a Saturday Gold Lotto division one winner.

The Brisbane resident held one of the three division one winning entries across the country in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4065 on Saturday 4 July 2020. Each entry won a division one prize of $1,536,277.70.

Sharing his excitement with us this morning, the regular lottery player said he was still coming to terms with the news.

“Wow. Thank you very much,” he eventually managed.

“It hasn’t sunk in. I don’t think it will sink in until we see it in our bank account!

“It’s very, very exciting!

“I checked the numbers in the paper on Sunday morning, just like I always do every weekend.

“I couldn’t believe it when they started matching up with the numbers on my ticket. It was surreal.

“I’ve been playing Saturday Gold Lotto for forty years and it’s certainly paid off.

“Although I’ve always dreamt about it, I never thought this would actually happen to me!”

When asked how the loving family-man always imagined he’d enjoy life as a millionaire, he said he’d always dreamt of being able to help out his family.

“I will certainly be sharing it,” he said.

“I’m sure once I see it in the bank I will get a few more ideas but I know it will help out a lot of people and change some lives in our family.”

The division one winning 18-game marked entry was purchased at Sunnybank Hills News, Corner of Calam & Compton Roads, Sunnybank Hills. Sunnybank Hills News employee Angela said it had been three years since the outlet sold a division one winning entry.

“We were so excited to hear we’d sold a major prize winning entry in the weekend’s draw,” she said.

“The last few months have been a testing time for everyone so we are thrilled for our customer and we hope this win can make their dreams come true.

“We can wait to spread this news to the rest of the community!

“Congratulations to our winner!”
